What happens when you move back to your home town

I started my (no longer new) job in August and somehow could not find the time to make a dentist appointment until today. (In truth, I did try a month or so back but had to leave a message and never returned the message they left me.) Anyway...if I had my choice, I would go to my old friendly dentist who took care of my teeth through college BUT my insurance won't have it. (Unless I want to, um, pay.) So I called my insurance-approved place and found out that the dentist I wanted isn't taking new patients, only one dentist is and it turns out I graduated high school with her.  I heard she went to dental school but I haven't actually seen her since 1992. Is it weird that the first time I will see her she will be poking around my mouth and telling me I shouldn't go two years between appointments? (Btw, in LA I was very good about going to the dentist every six months and I'm obsessive about brushing my teeth. Does that help?)

In other news, I got a new ipod! Yes, it sucked having to get a new one a mere four months after my warranty ran out but the old died a painful death and I just couldn't go much longer without one. I have to say, I'm liking the larger in-color screen. And the sleek black look.

Scandalous scandals

I really had no interest in Clinton's sex scandal. The investigation was such a damn waste of money and for what? But jeez, can you believe the biggest problem during the Clinton years was that he had sex -- blow job, whatever -- with an intern?! I wish that were the biggest news now. Instead we get war (with opportunity for more), a crazy budget deficit (long gone is the surplus Clinton left us), the price of gas soaring (I'm guessing $4/gallon by summer), a criminal medicare bill, a supreme court shift to the far right, anti-gay and anti-women legislation, and does anyone wonder why Bush is at 24% in CT?! But for those of you who miss the good old days of sex scandals, check out the Repub's latest woes. (If you're too busy to click on the link, think prostitution with a twist of the Watergate hotel for good measure.)

Inspiration

So Boz, of Ask Boz fame, has a new site (cleverly named askboz.com) and I got to thinking, do I still have a site if I never (ever) post? Technically I still do (though I don't need to pay for a while still because of all those free months typepad gave me after their numerous system problems) so I may as well use it...

First up, or maybe second, for a little inspiration as you go to work each day, find out how long a top CEO needs to work to earn your salary. Without divulging the exact amount of buckets of money I earn in my high profile career each year, let's just say you can measure the number of days a CEO needs to work to equal my pay with one hand and you don't even need to use all your fingers! (Or your thumb.) Hmm, not the inspiration you needed? Sorry, I'm rusty at this communication thing.
